Programs

Algoma Consumer / Survivor Network
Sponsored by Canadian Mental Health Association & advised by Consumer/Survivors, they work to promote and advance the interests of Consumers of Mental Health Services in the Algoma District and reduce the stigma of mental illness. Offer support, info & referrals.

Algoma Family Support Network
Providing support & education for family members of those with mental illness through scheduled group meetings. Confidential counselling & support to assist family members in dealing with difficult challenges of a family member with a mental illness.

Club 84
Provides a work-ordered day which assists in the attainment of skills for daily living. Provides employment supports, services, and on-site educational opportunities. Hosts a variety of social, recreational events, & activities like dinners & dances.

Counselling
Provides short & long-term counselling on an individual & group basis using a client-centered approach. Provides identification & assessment of signs & symptoms & conducts bio-psychosocial investigations for individuals who have mental illness.

Court Outreach Program
Provides court and community-based services to mentally disordered individuals who suffer with a severe mental illness and come into conflict wit the law.

Dual Diagnosis Program
Provides psychiatric consultation and treatment for adults with development disabilities and complex mental health needs.

General Counselling Program
A general counselling program designed to meet the needs of adult individuals (16 years+) without a mental illness. This program also includes support services that are sensitive to the unique needs of seniors along with couple's counselling and advocacy services.

Information and Referral
Provides referrals & information about community resources & mental health issues. Also provides central intake & assessment for community mental health programs. Provides brief service to those in need. Participates in discharge planning.

Mental Health Resource Centre
Provides a full lending library including books, videos, audiotapes, pamphlets & journals relating to mental health and mental illness issues.

Transitional Employment Program
A Vocational Specialist offers employers recruitment, training and support services for temporary contract positions at entry-level FT or PT positions.
